About Volunteering with AWaH

Among the children who come to Art With a Heart, many experience shortage of food, money and other basic necessities.  More importantly, they may not appreciate their true potential. A positive experience with a volunteer in one of our programs can change that.

Our ability to serve children is directly dependent upon our many wonderful volunteers. We offer a variety of ways to serve. Whether you assist a teacher in an art class or summer camp, serve on a board or committee, or simply help in our office, your time spent with Art With a Heart will be deeply gratifying and very much appreciated.

There are so many ways to serve Art With a Heart. Read on to find which volunteer opportunity suits your interests.

Classroom Assistant

Our classroom assistants help in so many ways. Responsibilities for this position include setting up the art room, interacting with students, helping children follow directions to ensure completion of art work, and cleaning the classroom after class. In addition, volunteers assist with setting up student art exhibits.

Photographers

At Art with a Heart we love to capture glimpses of our budding artists at work. We also take pictures of their beautiful art work and our wonderful student art exhibits. Photos are used for grants, brochures, posters, scrapbooks, our website and so much more. We welcome all passionate and skilled photographers who are interested in helping us document our success.

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors provides governance and develops resources to support the work of the staff and volunteers.  Board members attend bi-monthly meetings and serve on committees becoming actively involved in fundraising, finance, strategic management and marketing.

Committee Member

Art With a Heart has several board committees in which non-board volunteers can participate. These include the Board Development, Gala, Finance and Marketing committees. Our committee members meet on a regular basis to offer their expertise in helping AWaH fulfill its mission.

Junior Board

The Art With a Heart Junior Board consists of high-school students who represent seven city high schools. The Junior Board is actively looking for new members, High School or College aged. The Junior Board engages their peers to develop volunteers for our programs and raises funds for projects that they select, typically focused on enhancing the Art With a Heart experience for our students.

Service Hours

Art With a Heart uses a volunteer database to track our volunteers’ hours of service. Your time with us will be carefully recorded and easily accessible by staff. We are more than happy to assist our volunteers in filling out forms needed to verify service hours.

Office & Material Prep

Art With a Heart welcomes your helping hands and creativity as we prepare our materials for student art projects. We also offer opportunities for groups of volunteers to come and assist in preparing materials for our programs.

If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please fill out an online application.
